Golf Course Superintendent

New York Country Club is a Semi-Private Club nestled in the scenic Hudson Valley Region of New York. The club is noted for its scenic views of the New York City, as well as its undulating fast greens, and top-notch course conditions. Recent renovations include a full green side bunker rejuvenation using capillary concrete liner, a new state of the art pump station with (3) 60 horsepower pumps, along with a new irrigation panel, and a greens expansion to reclaim the original green shapes.

This is a full time, year-round salaried position. The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where the staff is involved and enthusiastic, has open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests, and the property. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

The chosen candidate would be responsible for all phases of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, including but not limited to:

- Employee Training/ Development/ Scheduling

- Turfgrass/plant material maintenance programs and pesticide applications

- Irrigation repair and scheduling

-Personnel management

-Budgeting and financial management

-Equipment Oversight to ensure all equipment operates properly, and also ensures staff operates all equipment in a safe manner

-Compliance with Regulatory and permit requirements

-Maintains open and regular communication with General Manager and Course Managers

- On occasion the Superintendent will perform general golf course maintenance duties as needed.  The successful candidate will be a positive leader, motivator, and will act as a mentor to our team.

Educational Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in turf management , or related field preferred.  A certificate from an accredited program and 3 years of work experience, or a similar combination is also acceptable.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of golf course maintenance experience in a leadership role to include golf, turf fertilization, calibration and pest control, as well as irrigation oversight.
  • Prior Superintendent experience preferred, but willing to consider an Assistant Superintendent that is ready to take the next step.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills

Special Requirements

  • *NYS Pesticide License required or ability to obtain shortly after hiring
