Assistant-in-Training

 Description of the Irrigation Technician/Assistant in Training position. One individual per course will be responsible for crew supervision as well as irrigation support. Below is a brief synopsis of what the expectations are for this particular position.

1)      Irrigation control system monitoring and maintaining.

-          Field satellite repairs and adjustments

-          Verify sprinkler functionality, and coverage

-          Update central control system daily, as well as communication checks

-          Edge, clean all valves and sprinklers

-          Check system daily for leaks and clogged nozzles, flushing heads.

-          Equipment and parts inventory

2)      Supervise and train employees that are working on each designated course

-          This includes reprimanding, and holding each employee accountable for their actions

-          Motivating staff to perform jobs to a high level of quality

-          Man power surveys- we need to know how long it takes to complete all daily tasks. We can intervene when an individual  is taking longer than expected

3)      Supervision of projects

-          We will be tackling various projects over the next few months. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and executing various projects that occur on your designated course.

4)      Water use management

-          You will be responsible for all water output on your assigned course.

-          Monitor of injection rates, PH and associated adjustments.

-          Walk greens, tees, fairways daily to monitor moisture levels

-          All water output on greens must be permitted by me. We need to keep the putting greens fast and firm. This is achieved through precise water management

-          Water agent tablets when needed to control local dry spots

Water in any chemical, fertilizer or soil amendments when needed

Educational Requirements

  Education: High school degree or equivalent required

 

Experience Requirements

    Experience: One-year experience required or one year plus related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
