2nd Assistant Superintendent

Pine Valley Golf Club is a private golf club located in Pine Valley, New Jersey. A 1913 George Crump design, the 18-hole Old Course has been consistently ranked among the best golf courses in the world. In addition to the Old Course, there is a 10-hole Short Course (built in 1992 by Tom Fazio) as well as a 25-acre practice facility with a double end driving range, short game areas, putting greens, and teaching facility.

Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is continuously evolving with various construction projects taking place each year. 2nd Assistant Superintendents will work closely with the Superintendent, Senior Assistant, and other assistants to direct, and monitor all maintenance aspects of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable, and eager to learn. Candidates must also have the willingness to work the hours required to uphold the high standards of Pine Valley Golf Club, as well as have a strong eye for detail with a desire to advance in the turf maintenance industry.

The selected candidate will also be exposed to the proper handling, mixing, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and accurate recordkeeping. They will help provide supervision and directly participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course.

Educational Requirements:

- Two or four-year degree/certificate in agronomy and/or soil science.

Experience Requirements:

- Prior experience working on a golf course or internship preferred.

Special Requirements:

- Must have a passion for the turf industry with a strong desire to advance in the industry.

- Must have a basic understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in Turf Maintenance.

- Must be willing to take directions.

- Must possess ability to coordinate and complete tasks with limited supervision.

- Must be a self-starter and eager to learn.

- Must be able to recognize and solve problems.

- Must maintain high performance standards.

- Must be able to obtain New Jersey Pesticide license in a timely manner.
