Equipment/Shop Manager

The Peninsula Club is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Golf Course Maintenance Team as an Equipment Manager. The Club is a private, member-owned, 18-hole golfing community located on Lake Norman, 20 miles north of Charlotte, NC, and is undergoing a full course renovation.

 The golf course has been closed and under renovation since October of 2023 and will reopen in October of 2024. The golf course was originally designed by Rees Jones and currently under redesign by Beau Welling Design. Additional information regarding the renovation can be found here.

 The Equipment Manager (EM) reports directly to the Director of Golf Course Grounds and assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Golf Course Maintenance (GCM) Facility. In 2025-2026, The Club plans to renovate the GCM Facility, and the Equipment Manager will be highly influential in the planning and execution of the project.

 Responsibilities

●      Identify and resolve mechanical issues on all maintenance equipment including gas, diesel and electric units.

●      Ensure all reel and rotary units are cutting properly and at the proper height of cut.

●      Assist in continued training for the turf technicians on proper usage and maintenance of all equipment.

●      Schedule, conduct, and record preventative maintenance and repairs on all equipment

●      Communicate with the Director of Golf Course Grounds and Assistant Superintendents with any issues relating to maintenance and repair of all equipment.

●      Manage, coordinate, and develop the Assistant Mechanic who has been in the position for under one year.

●      Must be able to comply with all OSHA safety standards and practices.

 Requirements

●      5+ years of experience as an Equipment Manager

●      Advanced knowledge on reel and bed knife grinding - experience with Bernhard grinders is a plus

●      Experience with Toro, John Deere and Jacobsen cutting units

●      Able to quickly and efficiently diagnose issues with turf equipment

●      Must have basic computer knowledge to oversee related budgets

●      Must be able to work some weekends and holidays as needed

●      Caterpillar skid steer and Kubota track loader

●      Bernhard Express Dual 4000DX and Anglemaster 4000DXi

The Club will be receiving a new equipment package in March of 2025 which will consist primarily of John Deere units.
