Golf Course Superintendent
Since opening in 1989, Piñon Hills Golf Course has been consistently ranked among the best public and municipal golf courses in the United States. A championship 18 hole golf course located in the high desert of Northwest New Mexico, Piñon Hills recently completed a $9 million renovation project.
In 2022, the golf course was closed for 10 months as the following projects were completed:
- Installation of a new RainBird irrigation system with weather station and fertigation tank
- New 8ft wide colored concrete cart paths
- All bunkers completely rebuilt (including Better Billy Bunker treatment) and new bunker sand
- New short game practice green and bunker
- Expansion of the existing practice putting green
- Clubhouse renovations
- Landscaping renovations and upgrades
- New fleet of Yamaha golf carts with GPS
- Additionally, new golf course equipment was purchased in Fall 2020
This position is also responsible for the turfgrass maintenance at Civitan Golf Course, a 9-hole, par-3 course a couple miles away from Piñon Hills. The golf division is a part of the City of Farmington's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or Turf Grass Management and five years of golf course maintenance experience or any combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties of position.
New Mexico Pesticide Applicators License, or ability to obtain such within 60 days of employment
Experience Requirements
Preferred 5+ years experience as Golf Course Superintendent, not required
