Assistant Golf Course Mechanic

SUMMARY 

Assists Head Mechanic with routine equipment maintenance and repairs of the machinery and equipment used for golf course maintenance.  Also performs golf course maintenance and construction project work.

HOURS/DAYS

Monday through Thursday - 5:00am - 1:30pm, Fridays 5:00am – 10:00am and every other weekend (both Saturdays and Sundays) for approximately 4 hours – 5:00am - 8:30am. During Summer: Monday through Thursday - 6:00am - 2:30pm, Fridays - 6:00am – 11:00am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists Head Mechanic with routine service on golf course maintenance equipment, adjusts reels, grease bearings, changes oil, changes tires and fills equipment with fuel.
  • Assists with major and minor repairs in the shop or in the field, as required.
  • Assists in training the associates in the proper care and upkeep of golf course equipment.
  • Assists with equipment record keeping, including usage hours, fuel consumption and maintenance records.
  • Secures and replaces tools and supplies.
  • Cleans working area on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Assists in controlling tool access and use by associates.
  • Performs general maintenance and repair of golf course and golf course facilities.

EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS USED

Power vehicles and mowers, electric and fuel power tools, hand tools, specialized golf course equipment, grinders, drills, welding equipment, safety equipment, chemicals, grease, oil, paints, solvents, radios, telephones, general office equipment, supplies, and motor vehicles.

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of six months of mechanical training or similar field experience; or an equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education. Bilingual: English and Spanish a plus.

Experience Requirements

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Small Engine Repair, wiring and trouble shooting. Ability to assist with repair, servicing and operating of all golf course equipment and machines. Auto Repair is a plus.

Required knowledge of procedures, safety rules, tools, methods, and materials used for golf course maintenance.

Follow written and oral instructions, follow safety rules, maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and customers, and assist in completing reports and forms as required.
