Equipment/Shop Manager

Full-time

Punta Brava Golf and Surf Club, set on a breathtaking peninsula in Baja California, is seeking an exceptional Shop Manager / Head Mechanic to lead our equipment operations. This is a career-defining opportunity to build a department from the ground up in one of the most spectacular natural settings in golf. Backed fully by club leadership, you’ll establish the systems, the standards, and the legacy of the shop at a course that is already drawing international attention.

We’re looking for someone who thrives on independence, takes uncompromising pride in their craft, and embraces the challenge of delivering world-class results. With a brand-new fleet and significant investment, you’ll shape the shop layout, select the tools, and carry full trust to keep every machine dialed in to perfection.

Club Highlights

  • Brand-new, primarily Toro fleet
  • Current team of 8–10, growing to 35
  • Rainbird irrigation system
  • Fewer than 7,000 annual rounds
  • Turf varieties: Fescue, Bermuda, Bentgrass

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead every aspect of equipment care: diagnostics, repairs, preventive programs, and records.
  • Design and implement efficient systems for fleet tracking, parts inventory, and shop flow.
  • Evaluate and prepare both current equipment and incoming additions to the fleet.
  • Maintain cutting units to the highest precision standards—reels consistently dialed in.
  • Troubleshoot and repair across engines, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Manage purchasing of parts, supplies, and tools with full autonomy.
  • Build and mentor a growing shop staff (currently 1 FT, with more to come).
  • Collaborate closely with the Superintendent while independently directing shop operations.

Ideal Candidate Traits

  • Mastery of modern turf equipment and repair disciplines.
  • Fiercely committed to precision and reliability.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and thrives without micromanagement.
  • Resourceful and inventive, able to problem-solve in remote or unpredictable conditions.
  • Comfortable working in Mexico and adaptable to local resources.
  • Energized by the freedom to create, lead, and innovate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a golf course technician or equipment manager
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Expertise in reel grinding, hydraulics, and engine repair
  • Spanish fluency a plus, not required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000 USD (commensurate with experience and fit)
  • Potential tax advantages depending on individual circumstances
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Cell phone plan provided
  • Continuing education opportunities
  • Uniform allowance
  • Access to leadership development, networking, and volunteer opportunities

Work Schedule

  • Year-round role with practical, flexible scheduling
  • Position will evolve alongside the club’s expansion

The Environment

This is not a typical golf club. Punta Brava rises from a rugged peninsula where the Pacific Ocean crashes against rocky cliffs and the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir mountains frame the horizon. It’s a place of beauty and challenge, where creativity and grit are as essential as technical skill. We are building something extraordinary here and we want a mechanic who will match the setting with equal passion and precision.

About Punta Brava Golf and Surf Club

Just south of Ensenada, Mexico, Punta Brava is an exclusive golf and surf retreat that redefines the idea of a private club. With the ocean surrounding three sides of the course, multiple holes play across the Pacific itself, creating a golf experience found nowhere else in the world.

The course is under the direction of renowned architect Tom Doak, known for designing courses that embrace their natural setting while challenging players at the highest level.

At Punta Brava, we’re not only creating a golf course, we’re building a place where adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences will be shared for generations.
