Golf Course Superintendent
Founded in 1899 by William R. Farrand and several close friends, Detroit Golf Club remains an exclusive private golf club to this day. Early in our existence, a six hole course turned into nine holes and later eighteen holes. By 1916, our two Donald Ross-designed courses were completed. The putting surfaces on the South Course are Bentgrass/Poa Annua mix. The South Course consists of 17 original Donald Ross push-up greens with XGD drainage. The South Course Bunkers were renovated in 2015. The South Course is a part of a Tyle Rae master plan with work scheduled to begin in 2028. The master plan includes, new tees, bunkers, irrigation, drainage, green expansions, and fairway expansions. This will be a great opportunity for a qualified candidate to gain valuable construction experience as well as project planning. The South Course Superintendent is also heavily involved in the organization and planning of the Rocket Classic, a perennial PGA Tour event hosted at Detroit Golf Club since 2019.
