Golf Course Superintendent

Position Summary:

The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, management, and agronomic practices of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with the Golf Professional and Grounds Committee to ensure the course is maintained to high standards of playability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of golf course maintenance including turf management, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.

  • Supervise, train, and develop a skilled grounds maintenance team.

  • Develop and execute agronomic plans in line with seasonal needs and club expectations.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system.

  • Monitor and maintain the health and aesthetics of turf, trees, and landscaping.

  • Manage the department budget, including labor, equipment, materials, and capital improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to chemical applications and environmental practices.

  • Coordinate with other departments to support tournaments, special events, and daily operations.

  • Provide regular updates and reports to the General Manager and Grounds Committee.


Qualifications:

  • Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a private club or high-end daily fee facility.

  • Current Idaho Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain one within 90 days.

  • Strong knowledge of agronomic practices, turfgrass species, and course conditioning techniques.

  • Proven leadership and team-building skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

  • Proficient with irrigation systems, equipment management, and budgeting.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cool-season turfgrass in a high-elevation, four-season climate.

  • Familiarity with Toro irrigation systems.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
