Turf Manager

Who You Are

We are seeking a dedicated Turf Manager to join our Facilities and Operations team. This vital role is responsible for the routine care and maintenance of all campus turfgrass areas, including athletic fields and common grounds. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for creating and maintaining healthy, high-performing outdoor spaces.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain and care for turfgrass areas using tools and equipment such as mowers, spreaders, sprayers, and cultivating machines

  • Implement yearly fertilization and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies in collaboration with the Grounds Superintendent

  • Monitor and report signs of disease, pests, and damage

  • Apply fertilizers, fungicides, and insecticides as needed

  • Support general campus grounds maintenance and cleanliness

  • Train and assist grounds crew members on best practices and safety

  • Assist with snow and ice removal operations, including operating snow removal equipment (on-call during inclement weather)

About You

The ideal candidate for the Turf Manager at The Episcopal Academy will possess the following:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticultural maintenance or a related field, and have at least 5 years of expertise on a maintenance staff

  • Familiarity with turfgrass species, disease, and insect identification

  • Knowledge of groundskeeping tools and machinery

  • Ability to work independently and lead by example

  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and trash-free campus

  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods and lift or carry 70+lbs

  • Capable of reaching, bending, and performing physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions

  • Ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator License within 90 days of hire
