Equipment/Shop Manager
Dallas Country Club, founded in 1896, is seeking an Equipment/Shop Manager, to join our team effective immediately. An 18-hole private country club, DCC is the oldest private club in Texas and one of the most prestigious clubs in America (Platinum Club of America Top 150 Country Clubs). The Club is located within the community of Highland Park, Texas (4 miles north of downtown).
The equipment manager reports to the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent and/or the assistant golf course superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the assistant equipment manager. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
The golf course and practice facilities were renovated in 2011 & 2023 by John Fought and Mike Gogel Golf Design in the design motif of the Golden Age of golf architecture, and more specifically, in a style consistent with the great Donald Ross. The golf course is (or was) an 18-hole layout with a 3-hole short game practice area. Current Turfgrass varieties include: Tyee/007 Bentgrass Greens, Stadium Zoysiagrass fairways, tees, collars and approaches, 419 Bermudagrass Roughs.
Educational Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Graduate of a vocational technical school or post-secondary training in small engine repair or mechanics.
- Four to six years of experience as a mechanic.
- Golf equipment repair experience.
Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of gas and diesel engines
- Knowledge of small engine repair
- Knowledge of hydraulics
- Ability to implement and follow a maintenance schedule for all equipment pertaining to the grounds
- Ability to purchase and log purchases
- Ability to communicate professionally
- Ability to diagnose some electrical issues
- Ability to communicate effectively to employees and help train the correct methods of equipment usage
- Creative ability for effective solutions to problems
- Organized, punctual and self-motivated
- Knowledge of welding
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly

Special Requirements

- Valid driver’s license.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
