We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Golf Course Mechanic/Shop Manager to join our team and oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of our equipment fleet.

 

Position Summary:

The Golf Course Mechanic/Shop Manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment. This includes gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engine equipment. The position also manages the equipment maintenance facility and assists the superintendent with equipment-related budgeting and planning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment.

Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.

Maintain accurate service and parts records, including equipment maintenance logs.

Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility.

Train staff on the safe and proper use of equipment.

Assist in preparing equipment for seasonal changes (e.g., snow removal, winter storage, spring startup).

Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent on equipment purchases and capital improvements.

Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards (including proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials).

 

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a golf course or turf maintenance setting.

Strong knowledge of small engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and reel grinding/sharpening.

Ability to read schematics and manuals and troubleshoot a variety of equipment issues.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Valid driver’s license required.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
