Kingsmill Resort is located at 1010 Kingsmill Road in Williamsburg, VA. Our property is located on the bank of the scenic James River and is included in the historic triangle that includes Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown.

Kingsmill Resort employees provide guests and members many services at our multiple pools, restaurants and gift shops, Marina, Sports Club, Tennis, Spa, and three championship-caliber 18-hole golf courses whose fairways have hosted the greatest names in the history of golf.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Golf Course Superintendent who can lead with clarity, confidence, and strategic insight. This role goes beyond turf maintenance — it’s about leading people, managing complexity, and building systems that support high-level performance across 54 holes.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing agronomic operations, with a strong focus on team development, project execution, and member satisfaction.  Expected to be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations and activities of golf course maintenance.

This position reports directly to the Director of Agronomy. This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic, visionary agronomic leader to make a lasting impact at a resort with momentum, resources, and a team-first culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of golf course maintenance including turf management, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control

Lead, mentor, and develop assistant superintendents and crew — building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence

Ensure accurate, efficient application and recordkeeping of fertilizers and pesticides

Collaborate with leadership to align agronomic priorities with member expectations

Implement operational systems that ensure safety, efficiency, and transparency

Schedule maintenance practices to optimize course conditions while minimizing disruption to play

Experience Requirements

Qualifications

GCSAA membership preferred

3–5 years of experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a private club, resort, or high-end daily fee facility

Degree or certificate in turfgrass management or related field

For-profit or private/semi-private golf course experience preferred

Valid driver’s license

Virginia pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

Experience with 5S facility management is a plus

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agronomic recordkeeping tools
