Known for our classic course design, exceptional conditions, and high standards, we are currently undertaking a multi-year renovation of our East Course—a project that will modernize infrastructure while honoring its historic architecture.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to help lead the day-to-day maintenance of our courses and to play a key role in supporting the renovation efforts.


Position Overview

Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent plays an integral role in executing daily golf course operations, supervising staff, implementing agronomic plans, and contributing to long-term projects—including the East Course renovation. This is a hands-on leadership position that offers strong professional development in all aspects of modern golf course management.


What You’ll Do

Leadership & Daily Operations

     Assist with daily planning and supervision of crew assignments across East and West Courses
 

     Train, mentor, and lead team members to ensure high-quality work and safe operations
 

     Support course setup, mowing, detail work, and execution of agronomic practices
 

Renovation & Project Support

     Collaborate with the Superintendent and contractors during the East Course renovation, including irrigation installation, drainage upgrades, bunker and green work, and grow-in phases
 

     Help manage logistics and labor in support of renovation activities, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals
 

Water Management & Irrigation

     Monitor and manage course moisture levels using meters, weather data, and hand-watering
 

     Assist in troubleshooting and operating Toro irrigation systems
 

     Coordinate closely with the Irrigation Tech to maintain consistent system performance
 

Agronomy & Turf Health

     Scout for turf issues and contribute to pest and disease management strategies
 

     Apply fertilizer and pesticide treatments using GPS-guided sprayers and maintain detailed records
 

     Participate in the development and implementation of seasonal agronomic plans
 

Facility & Equipment Oversight

     Ensure proper use and maintenance of turf equipment and tools
 

     Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance facility
 


Qualifications

     Certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
 

     2–4 years of golf course maintenance experience, with prior leadership responsibilities preferred
 

     Missouri pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
 

     Familiarity with irrigation systems
 

     Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
 

     Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment
 

     Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
 

     Enthusiasm for the game of golf and course presentation
