Golf Course Superintendent
Under general supervision performs supervisory and administrative work directing grounds maintenance work at the city golf course. Work involves inspecting the golf course to determine maintenance, irrigation, mowing, fertilizer, pesticides and/or irrigation needs. Responsible for supervising a staff of maintenance personnel, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and standards; assists and advises subordinates, as necessary, resolving problems as non-routine situations arise including hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc. Responsible for developing and administering maintenance program budgets, including oversight of expenditures for supplies and equipment. Reports to the Golf Course Manager
Experience Requirements
Six to nine years of experience in golf course maintenance work, including supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have experience with Paspalum grass on putting surfaces. Experience with Toro Lynx irrigation systems preferred, as well as experience on a multi-hole golf course.
Special Requirements
Continuing Turf Maintenance Education: Stays up-to-date on latest turf maintenance and pesticide courses. Continues education of latest practices and standards.
Having a Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) license issued by the State of Florida Department of Agriculture to apply pesticides.
