Equipment Manager will oversee and facilitate a thorough preventive maintenance program for the three 9 hole golf courses, all clubhouse grounds and utility vehicles used in all departments of the club. This program includes diagnostic and necessary repairs of all equipment used throughout the club. Must be proficient with use of computer to facilitate ordering and record keeping. Must be capable of searching the internet for competitive pricing and securing needed replacement parts and supplies. The ideal candidate must be capable of working with equipment provider personnel in correct diagnostics of equipment issues. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn equipment functions as technology evolves. The ideal candidate will be required to use Task Tracker in record keeping and managing equipment use. Individuals will be required to be punctual with preventative maintenance schedules on all units. The ideal candidate will be responsible for training and managing assistant technician.
The Equipment Manager (EM) must be focused on daily cut quality of all reel mowers and rotary mowers. EM must be willing and able to grind reels and bed knives as needed throughout the growing season. Rotary blades must be sharp every time units leave the shop.
The EM will report to the Golf Course Superintendent and/or Director of Agronomy.
About The Golf Club at Dove Mountain
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain was founded in 2009 and was originally part of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain resort. Today the club has a private membership and is open to resort guests and limited public access. The club has three nines -- Saguaro, Tortolita, and Wild Burro – all designed by Jack Nicklaus and part of his signature collection of prestige properties.
The Club is a certified Audubon Sanctuary and has received numerous awards for design. The Club has an expansive 13-acre practice facility. Several of the Clubs holes are at an elevation of 3000 feet, creating amazing views of the valley below. The mountainous backdrop is a unique setting unusual for a desert course in Arizona.
The Clubhouse is 45,000 square feet and was built to the same standards as The Ritz-Carlton next door. It contains Caytons, staffed by The Ritz-Carlton. The Club offers indoor and outdoor dining and a private members-only bar and grill. The Clubhouse won a 2009 architectural design award and won Golfweek’s Best Resort Course in 2012. The WGC Accenture Match Play was hosted by the Club for several years.
Responsibilities:
Examines, identifies and makes necessary repairs to mechanical failures on all maintenance equipment and operations equipment utilized throughout the club. This includes diesel, gas, and electric units. It also includes handheld units as well as all specialty equipment used in the turf management program.
EM must be able and willing to train assistant technicians. The focus is on cut quality for light and heavy-duty mowing equipment.
EM will be involved in new hire understanding/training to enhance ability as equipment operators.
Daily inspection and adjustments must be made to units used each day. This is most imperative.
Must perform routine preventive maintenance services per manufacturer's recommendations.
Communicate any needs and/or issues relating to the maintenance, repair and use of equipment to Director of Agronomy, and/or Superintendent.
Schedule and assign duties daily to assistant technician.
Must maintain organized and clean work area. Must comply with OSHA safety standards and practices.
Must maintain accurate records of repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts inventory.
Must assist in maintenance and repairs of maintenance facility.
Must be willing to evolve with new equipment technology. Continued education will be provided and encouraged by management.
Experience Requirements
5 years of working experience as equipment technician or related field
Prior experience with diesel and gasoline engines including small tools
Must be computer literate and capable of placing orders and keeping records
Willing to interact positively with coworkers and management team
Willing to work under pressure and timelines as needed to make sure golf courses are groomed and in the best condition possible on a daily basis
Must be able to diagnose problems and/or seek counsel from equipment providers and service managers
Must be willing and able to properly grind reels and bedknives, backlap, face bedknives, adjust reel to bedknife cutting units properly to insure quality of cut every time units go out
Must be able to work from verbal instructions, service manuals, schematics, and on-line if necessary to make required repairs and adjustments
