Equipment/Shop Manager
General Purpose:
The Equipment/Shop Manager oversees the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all motorized equipment used throughout the property. This role supervises and performs mechanical repairs, coordinates maintenance schedules, ensures equipment readiness, and leads the equipment maintenance team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs and performs overhauls and repairs on maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment, and other power equipment.
- Develops, implements, and oversees a preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
- Lubricates and services all equipment, ensuring records of maintenance are maintained.
- Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes or directs routine adjustments and repairs.
- Maintains current knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and their components.
- Inspects, changes, and repairs tires on all equipment.
- Manages tool inventory and ensures proper use and return by maintenance staff.
- Maintains clean and organized work areas and ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Supervises and supports fabrication, welding, body repair, and painting projects.
Adjusts and maintains cutting units on mowing equipment to ensure optimal turf performance.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, and reaches with arms.
- Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Occasionally sits, climbs, or balances.
- Regularly communicates verbally.
- Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather-related), extreme temperatures, and around toxic or caustic materials.
- May be exposed to vibration, airborne particles, or fumes.
- Works regularly in outdoor weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
- May face the risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is generally loud.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or GED required. A certificate from a college or technical school is preferred.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of three years of progressive mechanical experience, including supervisory or lead mechanic responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
