Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

Job Summary: Responsible for operation and maintenance of the Company’s facility. The responsibilities include turf grass maintenance, range ball inventory, range ball cleanliness, personnel management, irrigation systems, pesticide applications, and equipment maintenance and repair. The Grounds Superintendent reports directly to the GENERAL MANAGER.

Our Facility Consists of:

  • 28 acre driving range.
  • 1 putting green
  • 1 chipping green with aprons and 2 bunkers
  • large bermuda grass tee
  • 18 hole mountain style mini golf course
  • 9 bay batting cage
  • Top 100 Fitting Center / Top 100 Golf Shop
  • Independent Teach Academy
  • Coming in the next 12 months; additional large putting and chipping facility

Functions:

  • Oversee and perform the care and maintenance of the Company’s turf grass
  • Oversee and perform the care and maintenance of the Company’s landscaping
  • Oversee and perform the care and maintenance of the Company’s structures and buildings
  • Oversee and perform the care and maintenance of the Company’s range ball inventory
  • Maintain all Company mechanical equipment to good working order using both proactive maintenance and repair when needed.
  • Operate Company vehicles; tractor, work cart, golf cart
  • Set irrigation schedules
  • Repair irrigation systems
  • Identify and repair turf disease and damage
  • Plan and execute range ball picking strategy
  • Plan and execute range ball cleaning strategy
  • Recruits, supervises and retains department staff.
  • Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the facility grounds in compliance with Company, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Plan for and adapt work schedule for changing weather conditions
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Schedule maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to customers
  • Improve existing systems and infrastructure
  • Monitor customer activity to assure the Company’s assets are secure.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the other company employees.
  • Such other tasks as are necessary to sell the merchandise and services of Miles of Golf

Must be a self starter and "jack of all trades".  If you are one that sees a problem and fixes the problem, you will fit in well here. 

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Turf chemical license required. May be obtained after hire date.
  • 1+ year of experience required
  • 5+ years of experience preferred

Experience Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Turf grass maintenance
  • Use of tools; including manual, battery operated, and gas powered
  • Small engine maintenance and repair knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Staff management

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Computer skills; knowledge of Google workplace, MS Office, or similar software
  • Electrical repair skills
  • Mechanical skills
  • Turf grass chemical application
  • Plumbing repair skills
  • Carpentry skills

Special Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Work that may require ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing
  • Consistent ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
  • Consistent repeat motions with wrist, hands, and/or fingers
  • Consistent ability to lift arms over head
  • Consistent work in outdoor conditions including cold, heat, wind, rain, snow.
  • Occasional ability to climb a ladder
