Assistant-in-Training

Wexford is a highly acclaimed residential gated community located in the heart of South Carolina Lowcountry on Hilton Head Island. Wexford is a fully developed boating, golf, tennis, and pickleball community with comprehensive amenities. Wexford is home to an incredible 37-acre inland harbor with an innovative lock system, one of only 3 on the East Coast; a distinctive Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course; and a championship tennis and pickleball center.

Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is consistently trying to improve, with various construction projects taking place each year. The assistant in training will work closely with assistant superintendents, and the superintendent to plan, direct, and oversee all maintenance aspects of the golf course. The ideal candidate must possess a positive attitude, be highly motivated, reliable, eager to learn, have a keen eye for detail, and a strong desire to advance in the golf maintenance industry. 

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the proper handling, mixing and application of pesticides and fertilizers, along with detail record keeping and inventory. This is a hands-on position that will provide supervision and participation in all daily maintenance activities on the golf course. 

Must have a positive attitude with an eagerness to learn

Must be a team player willing to help out with anything that comes up

Must have a passion for the turf industry with the desire to become an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent 

Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in turf maintenance 

Must be a self-starter with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with limited supervision

Must maintain high performance standards
