Turf Equipment Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the Head Mechanic with the repairing and maintenance of the Golf Course Maintenance equipment.  Also works independently to complete tasks.  Maintains a clean service area and maintenance building.  Contributes to the preventative maintenance program and places safety procedures as a top priority.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists the Head Mechanic with daily responsibilities as well as assuming supervisory position in his absence.
  2. Communicates maintenance/repair related needs or problems to the Head Mechanic, assistant golf Superintendent or Golf Course Superintendent.
  3. Inspects, diagnoses, adjusts and repairs mechanical defect/failures in golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.  Requires ability to use proper tools to effect maintenance and repairs.
  4. Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.  Assists in setting up and modifying new equipment.
  5. Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on heavy and light mowing equipment.
  6. Follows up on operator responsibility to keep maintenance equipment fueled, oiled and inspected.
  7. Assists on golf course as needed and directed y the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

  1. Ensures that all members, guests and co-workers are treated in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Ford Field & River Club.
  2. Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
  3. Understands and follows policies and procedures of the department and The Ford Field & River Club overall.
  4. Every member, owner, guest and employee of The Ford Field & River Club has a right to privacy.  Any information concerning a member, owner, guest or other employee is considered confidential.  Any incidents that occur, no matter how minor, are to be considered confidential information.  You should not discuss these matters with other employees or other persons outside of the Company.  Any disclosure of confidential information may result in corrective action up to and including termination.
  5. While The Ford Field & River Club encourages amicable relationships between members of management and their subordinates, involvement in a romantic relationship may comprise or create a perception that comprises a member of management’s ability to perform his or her job.  Such relationships could create an appearance of or opportunity for impropriety, favoritism, or a conflict of interest.  Any involvement of a romantic nature between an officer, manager or supervisor an anyone he or she supervises, either directly or indirectly, is prohibited.  Violation of his policy will lead to corrective action up to, and including, termination of the management individual or both individuals involved in the relationship.

Experience Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFIATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.  Experience or additional training on small engines a plus.
  2. Requires a working knowledge of the general operation of all types of motors and equipment used in golf course maintenance, the proper methods of servicing such equipment and the adjustment of power mowing equipment.
  3. Requires a full understanding of safety procedures and job hazards.  Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  4. Ability to maintain a clean, well-organized parts inventory room.
  5. Adheres to proper recycling and/or disposal of oils, compounds, antifreeze, oil filters, etc.
  6. Attention to detail in daily inspection of golf maintenance equipment.
  7. Most possess a valid driver’s license.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.  Lifts 75 pounds occasionally up to 100 pounds.  Vision must be correctable to read and write.  Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment.  Must have hand usage to maintain and repair equipment.  Some irregular hours including weekends and holidays.  Ability to work in various weather conditions
