Club Overview:

Hideaway Beach Club is a private, gated community located on the beautiful Gulf of America in Marco Island, Florida. Spanning over 300 acres. Hideaway has 623 memberships and properties consisting of single-family homes, beach villas, and condominiums. It is home to the world’s largest concentration of native Florida Live Oak trees, creating a natural sanctuary unlike any other. Members and their guests enjoy beachfront access, golf, a Clubhouse with four full-service dining venues, a wellness & fitness center, 8 Har-Tru tennis courts, 6 pickleball courts, and 3 bocce courts.

Golf Course Overview: Hideaway’s 9-hole executive golf course is the jewel within the community and will be undergoing a complete renovation beginning April 2026 that will elevate the playing experience even further with:

  • 3 acres of greens resurfaced with TifEagle.
  • 3 acres of tees converted to Bimini.
  • 13 acres of approaches, fairways, and rough grassed with Bimini.

Today, the course currently features 1.5 acres of greens grassed with TifEagle, 1 acre of tees with Celebration Bermuda, 13 acres of approaches, roughs, and fairways with Celebration Bermuda, and a new 3,800 square feet putting green.

Position Summary:

The Superintendent of Golf Course and Grounds will be a hands-on leader responsible for providing exceptional golf conditions, Club landscaping, grounds maintenance, and course renovations. This includes developing and implementing weekly, monthly, and annual goals and objectives, not limited to agronomical programs, budgeting, crew management, record keeping, irrigation, construction and project work, fertilizer & pesticide applications, scouting, water management, attending committee meetings, and communicating effectively with Club management and members.



Responsibilities Include:

Turfgrass Management:

  • Overseeing all aspects of turfgrass maintenance, including mowing, aerating, topdressing, and chemical and fertilization applications.
  • Monitoring and controlling irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and distribution.

Pest and Disease Control:

  • Developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) programs to control weeds, insects, and diseases.
  • Applying pesticides and herbicides in compliance with local regulations and environmental best practices.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Leading the maintenance and repair of golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems.
  • Conducting daily facility security checks, ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys

Landscape and Horticulture Management:

  • Managing ornamental plantings, shrubs, and trees on the property.
  • Designing and implementing landscape improvement projects to enhance the aesthetic appeal.

Budgeting and Procurement:

  • Developing and managing budgets for maintenance operations, including labor, supplies, and equipment.
  • Procuring necessary materials, equipment, and supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Staff Management:

  • Hiring, training, coaching, supervising, and assisting the grounds maintenance team of groundskeepers, equipment operators, and irrigation technicians.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback for professional development.

Environmental Stewardship:

  • Implementing sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact, including water conservation, wildlife habitat preservation, and waste reduction.
  • Maintaining Audubon certification

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing golf course operations, including environmental, safety, and labor laws

Course Improvement Projects:

  • Planning and executing course and common grounds improvement and renovation projects, which may include bunker renovations, tee box construction, and drainage improvements.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Providing member updates on maintenance activities, budgets, and long-term planning.
  • Preparing reports on course conditions, maintenance schedules, and project progress.

Experience, Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, and Education:

  • A BS or Associate’s Degree in turf grass management, or a related certificate and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass varieties, horticulture practices, and pest management techniques:
    • Pest control products and their applications.
    • Turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.
    • Irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Experience with construction, renovations, and project management.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, and financial management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Have a current state certification or license for pesticide applications, or the ability to acquire a license.
