2nd Assistant Superintendent
Summary
Directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf courses including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, cart paths and the rough. Maintains playing conditions to the highest possible standards set forth by Ibis. Assumes responsibility in the absence of the Assistant Superintendent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1) Participate in supervision of the maintenance employees and disperses daily work assignments.
2) Trains new employees and documents each training session.
3) Conducts safety meetings to ensure that safety standards are met.
4) Checks course setup and conditions daily, reports deficiencies such as disease and unhealthy turf to Superintendent.
5) Maintains clear communication throughout the day with Superintendent and Assistant superintendent.
6) Oversees tasks to keep maintenance facility, equipment, and tools clean and organized.
7) Confirms maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Operates equipment when necessary as directed.
😎 Formulates and monitors chemical and fertilizer applications and participates in applications.
9) Assists with irrigation applications, scheduling, and repairs.

Educational Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Turf Management degree/or currently enrolled preferred. Previous golf course maintenance experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Experience Requirements
Previous golf course maintenance experience is required. Ideal position for a recent graduate looking to learn and grow within the industry.
Special Requirements
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Basic computer skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Florida Pesticide license is preferred.
Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of operation of mowing equipment, tractors, aerifiers, sweepers, sprayers, and miscellaneous hand tools.
Knowledge of cultural practices and procedures.
Knowledge of fertilizers, chemicals, and soil conditioners is required.
Knowledge of how to operate all golf course maintenance equipment.
Excellent organizational skills.
Detail oriented
Strong work ethic
Knowledge of the game of golf.
Other Qualifications
Must be highly motivated.
Team player.
Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.
