Overview:

Cleveland Country Club is a private club situated on approximately 116 acres. In addition to our main clubhouse, the property features seven tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course, featuring champion Bermuda greens. The course is supported by a leased driving range located on the adjacent Delta State University property and is widely regarded as one of the top courses in the state.

Our membership includes around 380 members, representing a broad mix of families and singles of all ages. The club’s golf program is active and well supported, both by our members and the broader golf community. In the past year, CCC hosted 25 events, including the 49th Annual 4-Ball Invitational, Sonny Andrews MGA Junior Championship, 24th Annual 6-Man Scramble, USGA Jr and Senior Amateur, the Derrall Foreman DSU Intercollegiate, three Southern Senior events, and a number of charitable tournaments. We also held a two week long junior golf clinic this summer.

Our Head PGA Professional, Craig Hansen, oversees a full-service pro shop offering club repair, individual lessons, and a wide selection of equipment and apparel. Cleveland Country Club proudly serves as the home course for Delta State University and Bayou Academy Golf Teams.

The club ground also includes landscaped areas surrounding the clubhouse, tennis courts, pool and main entrance. Grounds staff typically includes 3-5 full time employees, with additional part time staff brought on during peak season.

This leadership role is responsible for the overall maintenance, management, and daily preparation of the golf course, practice facilities and all club grounds to ensure top tier conditions all year round.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of the turf grass maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, and practice areas

Develop and implement agronomic plans to specific warm-season turf (Champion Bermuda) with particular attention to greens health, consistency, and speed

Manage, train, and lead an experienced team of maintenance staff with a strong emphasis on performance, safety, and teamwork.

Monitor irrigation systems (including programming and repair), drainage, and water management strategies

Maintain equipment inventory and coordinate preventive maintenance with mechanic/technician

Prepare annual maintenance budgets and operate within approved financial parameters

Manage chemical and fertilizer applications, recordkeeping, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

Collaborate with club leadership to align course conditioning with member expectations and club events

Oversee tree maintenance, clubhouse landscaping, and any course/clubhouse improvement projects

Communicate professionally and regularly with management and the membership regarding course conditions and projects

Course Maintenance (Chemicals, etc.)- $137,900

Equipment Repair- $13,500

Irrigation Repair- $6,750

Equipment Lease- $120,000

Main Grounds Personnel- $141,813

Educational Requirements

Degree or certificate in Agronomy, Turf grass Management, or related field

GCSAA membership required

Experience Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance with at least 2 years in supervisory role

Strong knowledge of warm-season turf grass management, including Champion Bermuda greens

Demonstrated success in maintaining playing conditions throughout year

Certified pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one promptly

Proficiency with modern irrigation systems

Budgeting, staff scheduling, and project management experience

Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team culture

GCSAA membership required
