Position Overview

 

 

The Turf Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and preventive service of all golf course equipment. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, ensuring equipment safety, and helping the maintenance team keep the course in peak condition. The right candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a team environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

• Repair & Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair all golf course equipment including mowers, tractors, utility carts, aerators, and small engines.
• Preventive Programs: Develop and follow scheduled preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
• Sharpening & Adjustments: Maintain reel mowers, bedknives, and rotary blades for precise cutting quality.
• Inventory Management: Track parts, tools, and supplies; work with Superintendent to order as needed.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate service logs, repair records, and safety checks for all equipment.
• Shop Safety: Keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Team Support: Assist grounds crew with equipment operation training and provide input on best practices.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

• 2+ years of mechanical experience (small engines, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems).
• Prior turf equipment experience (golf course, landscaping, or agriculture) strongly preferred.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Familiarity with reel grinding/sharpening equipment a plus.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or with a team.
