Equipment Manager - Dedham Country & Polo Club – Dedham, MA
Salary: $105,000–$120,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary
Dedham Country & Polo Club is seeking an Equipment Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of equipment maintenance for our golf course operations. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for the preventive care, reliability, and long-term performance of an elite turf equipment fleet.
More than just a technician, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in staying ahead of problems—through detailed inspections, scheduling proactive services, and establishing systems that reduce breakdowns and downtime. You’ll work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure equipment is always field-ready and capable of supporting championship playing conditions.
With a fully equipped maintenance facility and a growing team, this is an opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled mechanic to take ownership of a critical department within one of Massachusetts’ most historic and prestigious clubs, that is committed to providing the resources and support needed to ensure success in this position.

Equipment Fleet
- Greens mowers – Toro walk mower lease, new fleet planned 2026
- Fairway mowers – John Deere, replaced 2024
- Tee & approach mowers – Toro walk mowers, replaced 2022
- Rough mowers – Toro fleet replacement in 2025–2026
- Grinders – Foley reel and bed knife grinders (new 2022)
- Equipment lift – Golf lift (new 2024)
- Sprayers – Toro 5800s, replacement planned 2026
- Cart fleet – 15 Cushman haulers + Toro HDX + JD ProGator utility vehicles
- Tractors – Kubota and John Deere
- Excavator and skid steer – John Deere
- Trucks – 2025 F250 plow/salt truck, 2012 F350 dump truck
Department Structure
- ~35 peak-season staff / ~17 year-round employees
- Assistant Equipment Technician (3+ year tenure)
- Annual equipment repair & maintenance budget: ~$100,000 (excluding salaries)
Schedule
- Golf season (April–November): Mon–Fri 6:00am–2:30pm; Sat–Sun 5:30am–9:30am (alternating weekends with Assistant Equipment Technician)
- Off-season (December–April): Mon–Fri 6:30am–3:00pm

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the repair, maintenance, and overall care of all golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines
- Execute all equipment diagnostics, and precise reel grinding operations
- Create and execute proactive maintenance programs that reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Manage fleet tracking, parts inventory, and shop workflow systems
- Conduct full fleet inspections and maintain detailed maintenance records
- Oversee purchasing and budgeting of parts, tools, and supplies with full autonomy
- Supervise, mentor, and help grow assistant equipment technician
- Ensure all cutting units are maintained to the highest precision standards
- Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistants on scheduling and equipment planning
- Uphold strict compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a golf course equipment technician or manager
- High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications or degrees preferred)
- Proficient in reel grinding, hydraulic systems, engine repair, and electrical diagnostics
- Experience training and supervising assistant technicians
- Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
Initial Priorities
· Complete full fleet assessment and implement a preventive maintenance plan
· Inspect all cutting units to ensure proper performance
· Organize and optimize shop layout, systems, and recordkeeping
· Establish SOPs that encourage proactive service, accountability, and internal communication
Physical Requirements
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions and mechanical work environments
- Must be able to lift, bend, climb, and perform repetitive motions
- Occasional use of personal protective equipment required
