AGRONOMIST OVERVIEW
Oakmont's Agronomist program offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring turfgrass professionals gain to elite-level experience at the pinnacle of our profession.
Our program is focused on one thing: Accelerating your career development through top-tier exposure and mentorship.
Over the last nine years, Oakmont has placed eight Assistants into Head Superintendent roles at top Clubs around the country.
In 2025 alone, we have placed two Assistants into Head Superintendent roles and eight Agronomists into Assistant roles.
We promote entirely from within. The rapid career advancement of our Team Members creates endless opportunities for growth both within Oakmont and across the golf industry.
As an Agronomist at Oakmont, you will be immersed in all aspects of turfgrass and Team management, including but not limited to:
- Precision mowing and rolling procedures
- Plant protectant and fertility: calibration, mixing, application, and record keeping
- Intensive moisture management routines
- Golf course setup
- Aggressive aerification and cultural practice programs
- Championship level preparations DAILY
- Team management and mentor programs
- Planning and execution of course and facility improvement project

For over 20 years, our Grounds Maintenance Team has promoted entirely from within. Many of today's leading turf professionals got their start right here at Oakmont. Educational Requirements
Completion of a Turfgrass Management related Certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree program.
Experience Requirements

Special Requirements
Those interested in an Agronomist position at Oakmont will have the opportunity to make a site visit to Oakmont prior to committing to the position. This will allow all interested parties to meet the Team, experience the Culture, and witness the STANDARD we strive to achieve on a daily basis.
