The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, programs, events, parks and open spaces. Schaumburg Park District is home to the Schaumburg Golf Club, a beautifully manicured 27-hole course. The 27-hole course has hosted U.S. Open Qualifying, Illinois State Amateur Qualifying, Illinois Open Qualifying, IPGA Pro-Junior Championship, just to name a few. 40+ hour work week during the season.
Job Title: Golf Maintenance Lead
Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing daily course maintenance activities. Supervise and train grounds crew staff in proper turf care techniques. Scout the golf course for turf health, pest issues, and irrigation needs. Operate and maintain irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repairs. Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf products as directed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Maintain detailed records of chemical applications and maintenance practices. Help manage course setup for daily play, tournaments, and special events. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all course equipment. Foster a safe and positive work environment for the team.
Educational Requirements
Completed or pursuing education in turfgrass management.
Experience Requirements
Possession or ability to obtain a State Pesticide Operator's/Applicator's license
Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, disease management, irrigation systems, and best maintenance practices.
Ability to lead and motivate staff in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills
