Equipment/Shop Manager
Position Summary:
The Equipment Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall management of all golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and small tools. This role ensures that all equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established standards to support the maintenance of high-level playing conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain, service, and repair all turf equipment, vehicles, and small engines.
· Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
· Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, making timely repairs.
· Manage equipment parts inventory and place orders as needed.
· Ensure all equipment is calibrated and cutting units are maintained for optimal quality of cut.
· Train and assist golf course maintenance staff in the safe and proper operation of equipment.
· Oversee the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the equipment maintenance facility.
· Recommend equipment replacement, upgrades, and improvements.
· Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and OSHA standards.
· Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to meet daily maintenance needs.
Experience Requirements
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of experience as a mechanic or equipment technician, preferably in golf course or turf management equipment.
· Strong knowledge of gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
· Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides.
· Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Valid driver’s license required.
