Equipment/Shop Manager
ABOUT THE ROLE
The position of Equipment Manager at VCC is a unique opportunity to manage a fleet and maintenance facility at a high-end private club, providing the selected candidate with all of the resources to be effective and successful. Our fleet consists primarily of newly leased Toro golf equipment, John Deere tractors, and a spacious workshop. The Director of Equipment Maintenance will also have the support of one Course Mechanic, whom he/she will direct and supervise to accomplish department goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, electric, and gasoline-powered vehicles and other mechanical equipment used in utility work
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program for all equipment
- Creates schedules and directs mechanics to achieve daily departmental goals
- Ensures all in-service equipment is operational and safe for daily use
- Repairs and adjusts cutting mechanisms on various mowing equipment
- Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work
- Maintains accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance
- Checks performance of and makes timely repairs to equipment on the course
- Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment
- Complies with OSHA safety standards and practices
- Manages and maintains compliance with all workshop regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager or other management of the Club
Experience Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3-5 years mechanical experience with gasoline, diesel, and electric powered equipment, using standard mechanical repair tools
- Must possess a positive attitude, working with others to achieve department goals
- Must focus on productivity while displaying an overall sense of ownership for the fleet and its care
- Ability to implement organization throughout the operation
- Working knowledge of the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment.
- Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and the making of various types of mechanical repairs
- Ability to diagnose mechanical deficiencies and determine appropriate maintenance work
- Experience in spin grinding reels and back-lapping bedknives
- Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks without direct supervision
- Possess ability to use basic computer functions such as internet and email
- Possess ability to read and analyze schematics, service manuals, and other documents
- Possess ability to read and write in the English language. Spanish language skills a plus
- Ability to move heavy objects
- Possess a valid driver’s license
