Position Overview

Firefly is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Turf Equipment Technician to join our golf course maintenance team. This position supports the Equipment Manager in maintaining, repairing, and preparing the golf course maintenance fleet to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and precision.

The Turf Equipment Technician will play a critical role in supporting Firefly’s elite agronomic standards by maintaining the equipment used daily to produce championship-level playing conditions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys problem solving, precision work, and contributing to a high-performing golf course maintenance operation.

The position works directly with the Equipment Manager and Director of Golf Maintenance to maintain a high-performance equipment fleet supporting championship-level course conditions.


Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

· Perform preventative maintenance on all turf equipment

· Conduct daily inspection and servicing of mowing units

· Assist with oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and scheduled maintenance

· Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

Equipment Repair

· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues

· Repair diesel and gasoline engines

· Repair hydraulic and electrical systems

· Replace worn components and equipment parts

Grinding & Cutting Unit Setup

· Assist with reel grinding and bedknife grinding

· Maintain proper reel-to-bedknife contact

· Set and maintain accurate height-of-cut adjustments

· Ensure mowing equipment delivers premiere cut quality

Shop Operations

· Maintain a clean and organized shop environment

· Assist with parts inventory and ordering

· Maintain tool organization and accountability

· Support safety standards and operational procedures

Operational Support

· Prepare equipment for daily mowing assignments

· Assist operators with troubleshooting equipment issues

· Ensure equipment uptime during critical maintenance windows

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

· 5+ years of mechanical or turf equipment experience

· Knowledge of hydraulic systems and electrical troubleshooting

· Experience with reel mower setup and adjustment

· Experience with preventative maintenance programs

· Basic welding ability preferred

· Valid driver's license

· High school diploma or GED

· High character individual that contributes positively to team culture

Experience with John Deere turf equipment is strongly preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Applicant must have the ability to work rotating weekends
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be flexible throughout the various phases of course/turf care facility construction
