Equipment/Shop Manager
Seminole Golf Club seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Head Equipment Manager (EM) to lead its turf equipment and mechanical operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Golf Course Operations, this role is integral to maintaining Seminole’s elite conditioning standards through strategic maintenance practices, proactive planning, and technical excellence.
The Head Equipment Manager (EM) oversees all aspects of turf maintenance equipment, mechanical operations, and pumping systems critical to Seminole’s renowned playing conditions. This leader will advance an already exceptional maintenance program through modernized systems, staff development, and long-range capital planning.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and mechanical craftsman, equally skilled in diagnostics, planning, and leadership. The Golf Course Maintenance Department includes:
- Director of Golf Course Operations

- 16–20 Line Staff

Initial Priorities of Position:
- Evaluate and modernize the existing preventive maintenance program.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair all major turf and utility equipment.
- Assess the shop infrastructure and collaborate on long-term upgrade plans.
- Build and train a high-performing assistant and apprentice technician team.
- Establish industry-leading recordkeeping, budgeting, and vendor management systems.
Key knowledge, skills, aptitude and other traits:
- Lead the preventive maintenance program for all golf course and facility mechanical systems, including:
- Turf and utility equipment
- Irrigation pump stations and reverse osmosis systems
- Drainage and dewatering pumps
- Generator systems
- Husqvarna robotic mowers
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel, electric, and gasoline-powered equipment.
- Perform and oversee reel grinding and cutting unit setup to exacting standards.
- Supervise wash pad and shop maintenance; ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Seminole expects its Equipment Manager to be a visible leader within the maintenance team—coaching, mentoring, and setting the standard for professionalism.
- Train and instruct staff on the operation, care, and cleaning of equipment.
- Manage equipment records, budgeting, parts inventory, and repair documentation.
- Plan and oversee facility upgrades and long-term capital projects in coordination with the Director.
- Regulate employee equipment use in the absence of leadership.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships for pump station, generator, and specialized maintenance services.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant to prepare and process invoices.
- Participate in continuing education and professional association development.
- Implements environmentally responsible maintenance practices in compliance with federal and state regulations, including waste oil disposal, chemical storage, and stormwater management.
- Experience supporting tournament-level conditions, including coordination with agronomy teams and external crews to maintain championship-ready standards.
- Demonstrates ingenuity in fabrication, with the ability to engineer and modify parts or tools to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Integrates equipment management strategies with overall course conditioning objectives through regular communication with the Superintendent and Director of Golf Course Operations.
- Establishes performance benchmarks and key metrics to measure efficiency, equipment uptime, and maintenance quality across all systems.

- Proven success as an Equipment Manager or Head Technician at a top tier facility at a minimum of 6-8 years
- Expertise with John Deere and Toro equipment platforms.
- Experience managing capital replacement plans, leases, and vendor relationships.
- Working knowledge of irrigation pumping systems, including reverse osmosis and dewatering.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to lead across diverse teams.
- Bachelor’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent mechanical training preferred.
- Active member of GCSAA, Turf Equipment Technicians Association, or OEM certification programs.
- Prior experience supporting tournament-ready course conditions (USGA, PGA, or elite amateur events).
