Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

The golf course superintendent will be entrusted with the maintenance, operations, and management of the facility grounds.  They will assume responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, which include the following: Golf course, golf course maintenance equipment, golf cart fleet, clubhouse and grounds, landscaping, tennis courts, swimming pool and other properties owned by the Anniston Country Club.  This position will report directly to the general manager and Greens Committee Chairperson.

Course Type: Private member owned

Open: Year-round

Number of holes: 18 holes 6,300 yards

Annual Rounds: 8000

Primary Grasses: Greens – Champion Bermuda, Fairways and Tees – 419 and common Bermuda

Staff: 6-8 employees

 

Job Functions:

 

·         Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf course facility construction principles, practices and methods, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.

·         A high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making.

·         Excellent oral, written communication skills.

·         Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations).

·         Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, and trade shows.

Educational Requirements

Turf grass degree

Experience Requirements

·         GCSAA Member preferred.

·         Experience with ultra dwarf Bermuda grass.

·         Minimum experience of 3 years as an assistant superintendent.

·         Hands-on management skills, excellent work ethic, self-motivated and the ability to motivate staff to perform at a high            level.
