Assistant Equipment Technician
Golf Course Mechanic, under the supervision of the Head Mechanic and direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, performs and maintains all aspects of vehicle, equipment and cutting reel maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job duties include, although are not limited to:
-Lubricate equipment in accordance to manufacturer guidelines
-Perform preventative maintenance
-Check and change oil, fluids and filters
-Replace hoses, belts, water pumps, batteries, etc.
-Adjust brakes, tire pressure and gas gauges
-Inspect radiators, water levels and antifreeze
-Repair or change flat tires
-Assist in scheduling equipment servicing
-Assist Head Mechanic in moderate to complex overhaul of: engines, transmissions, drive units, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, etc.
-Maintain records of work performed and schedules for future PM's
-Clean and maintain in and around shop facilities, equipment, tools, and parts room
-Use a variety of testing equipment such as amp meters, voltmeters, gauges, and diagnostic equipment to streamline repairs
-Test drive equipment
-Set up and maintain all mowing equipment:
-Check height of cut
-Conditions reels and bedknives
-Inspect rollers, bearings, cables, clutches, belts, and headlights
-Use grinding equipment
-Maintain all facilities located within GCM
-Assist in maintenance of all club equipment
-Communicate needs and conditions of equipment
-Monitor organization of GCM facilities
-Monitor equipment during use
-Monitor inventory
-Assist in managing budget and ordering supplies
-Ability to order parts and communicate needs during head mechanics absence
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Majority of tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and rainy. Temperatures can be extreme but are usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, remain at post standing for periods of time, walk for a long distance, and is required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral. The noise level in the shop is usually moderate to loud. Due to the busy nature of a garage, the associate must be able to routinely work well under pressure, remain calm, and be tactful with co-workers.
