Equipment/Shop Manager
Aspetuck Valley Country Club was built in 1967, the Hal Purdy design is a private 18 hole facility, with 15,000+ rounds per year. 3 acres of predominantly Poa annu greens, 3 Acres of Poa/bentgrass tees, and 27 acres of Poa/bentgrass/ryegrass fairways. We recently finished constructing the lower campus per our long range plan, which included a new maintenance complex and driving range expansion. We also recently completed the renovation of the 11th thru 15th holes and are currently renovating our bunkers with Architect Joel Weiman.
Aspetuck Valley Country Club is seeking qualified, highly motivated, team-oriented individuals for our Head Equipment/Shop manager position. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to grow and build a quality program in our newer shop. AVCC makes significant investments in the maintenance operation annually, capital budget typically $750K. New Foley grinding equipment (reel and bed knife) was purchased in 2021, new turf care facility was constructed in 2015.
The Head Equipment Manager works closely with the superintendent and golf course maintenance leadership to ensure all equipment is properly maintained, safe to operate, and prepared to support daily operations. The successful candidate will take pride in organization, preventative maintenance, and equipment setup, and will understand the importance of precision and consistency.
Perform preventative maintenance on all golf course equipment
Inspect all equipment for operating deficiencies and wear
Diagnose mechanical/electrical issues on equipment and perform proper repairs
Maintain accurate service records on all equipment
Perform proper grinding intervals to maintain a high level of cut, at all times
Perform daily checks out in the field and in the shop to ensure quality of cut
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
Assist in training staff in proper equipment use, care, and maintenance methods
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Technical training or certification in turf equipment management, diesel mechanics, or a related field preferred
Candidates will have the ability to grow in the position with continuing education on and off the job
Experience Requirements
5 years golf course experience
3 years golf equipment maintenance
Special Requirements
Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player accustomed to being in position of responsibility
Must work well with others as a team and help co-workers when needed
Must be organized and able to perform administrative duties associated with the position
Is familiar with and maintains OSHA and other compliances
Valid Driver’s License
Flexible work schedule 40+ hours
