TITLE: Equipment Manager
FLSA: Salary/Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time year-round
REPORTS TO: Director of Golf Course Operations
SUPERVISES: Assistant Mechanic, Mechanic in Training
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for daily activities of all equipment maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs and equipment utilization on golf courses. Acts as technical advisor on all equipment issues and assists management with equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for preventive maintenance programs identified by manufactures requirements.
- Will work closely with department specific vendors to ensure responsive relationships.
- Will establish repair priorities for emergency repairs.
- Maintains all shop work stations in a clean, organized and professional condition.
- Will assist in the creation of the annual budget for equipment including capital expenses.
- Purchases small tools and any supplies needed for the equipment, mechanics and work crews.
- Assists in adhering to the operating budgets.
- Inspects equipment on a regular basis to comply with company safety policies.
- Lubricates and services all course maintenance equipment.
- Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies.
- Repairs and adjusts equipment.
- Maintains repair records on all equipment.
- Establishes and maintains safety procedures for using equipment.
- Maintains safety records.
- Performs general overhaul and other preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- Maintains blades of reel mowers.
- Maintains inventory of common equipment maintenance and repair parts.
- Undertakes body and fender work, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting and repairs to hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Communicates and reports any needs or problems relating to course equipment.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Furthers his/her continued development by participating in appropriate seminars and conferences as approved by the Director of Golf Course Operations.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Director of Golf Course Operations.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or general educations degree (GED), required.
- Graduate of a vocational technical school or post-secondary training in small engine repair or mechanics, preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Four to six (4-6) years of related head mechanic or equipment manager experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in specialized golf course maintenance, required.
Special Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Will work outdoors and may be exposed to wet and/or hot conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, sharp objects, extreme heat and/or open flame.
- Moderate noise environment.
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to twelve (12) hours per day.
- Ability to perform first aid and CPR while utilizing the emergency equipment.
- Move or lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- May need to use some protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
- Must be able to climb, crawl, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push or pull.
- Communication, to include: reading, hearing, and talking with employees.
- Must have close, distance, peripheral, and color vision along with the ability to adjust focus.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
