Assistant Equipment Technician

Position Overview:

The Inverness Club is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Mechanic. This position is ideal for someone with a basic understanding of hand tools and strong mechanical aptitude who is looking to develop skills in the turf equipment maintenance at a championship-level facility.

Working alongside an experienced equipment, the Assistant Mechanic will be exposed to all aspects of maintaining and repairing golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, sprayers, tractors, and small engines. Our goal is to develop your mechanical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and preventative maintenance practices in a professional shop environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assisting with routine maintenance and repair of golf course equipment
  • Assisting with reel and bed knife grinding and cutting unit set up
  • Daily equipment and cutting unit checks for next day use
  • Using hand tools safely and correctly
  • Performing oil changes, blade maintenance, lubrication, and inspection
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical issues under supervision
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Supporting daily equipment readiness for course operation
  • Ability to help with maintenance of the golf course in the morning when extra help is needed (ex. mowing the range area)

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Team oriented attitude and good communication skills
  • Ambition to grow into a lead or head equipment manager position over time
  • Basic understanding of hand tools is required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Previous mechanical, small engine, automotive, or equipment experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail is a must
  • Availability to work early mornings during golf season
  • Availability to work alternating weekends during golf season

 

Educational Requirements

Technical schooling or coursework in mechanics, small engines, diesel engines, or related field preferred but not required.

Experience Requirements

Entry-level position: prior mechanical experience is a plus but not mandatory
