Job Description:
Maintain the golf course in proper playing condition according to company standards.
Supervise course construction projects and oversee planting and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees.
Work closely with the Operations Team to develop and propose the annual maintenance plan and budget; implement and adhere to the approved plan.
Direct and supervise maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, water features, roughs, maintenance shop and grounds, cart maintenance, and clubhouse maintenance.
Create and lead a high-performance team while maintaining a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
Recruit, train, develop, and manage staff; ensure co-worker satisfaction and adherence to company policies.
Identify and address safety concerns immediately.
Conduct monthly safety meetings and training sessions; record attendance and complete safety audits.
Establish and implement maintenance programs for equipment, tools, vehicles, and related assets.
Manage purchase ordering, receiving, and inventory to ensure proper quantities and pricing.
Maintain accurate records for labor costs, maintenance expenses, construction projects, equipment repair, OSHA compliance, and all fertilizer, chemical, and pest-control activities.
Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality and service standards are met.
Supervise and perform equipment repair and maintenance.
Participate in weekly Department Head meetings.
Oversee irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Assist in maintaining security of golf course property and buildings.
Maintain course character consistent with the rules of golf and established maintenance expectations.
Solve technical turf and maintenance challenges effectively.
Identify, implement, and approve capital improvements.
Maintain golf course grounds in an environmentally sensitive manner.
Promote and comply with all current and future company and course policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Educational Requirements
Two-year degree required (four-year degree preferred) in turf management, agronomy, chemical applications, soils, fertilization, or related field.
Three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years as a Superintendent and/or High Performing Assistant Superintendent
Northeast Bent/Poa Greens successful management experience/history.
Positive attitude / Team-Player mentality.
Computer skills with Word, Excel, Outlook and/or ability to learn.
Highly motivated individual with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
Developed/proven leadership, communication, and agronomic skills.
Previous experience managing 36 hole property a plus
Special Requirements
Schedule varies based on business needs; early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.
Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, often in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, and humidity.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds.
Regular operation of maintenance equipment, vehicles, and tools.
Exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, dust, noise, and mechanical hazards.
Occasional exposure to wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bees, hornets, and other native outdoor species.
Requires use of vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
