Golf Course Superintendent
Overview
Arrowhead Golf Course is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent to lead all agronomic and grounds operations for our 18-hole facility in Lowell, MI. The Superintendent is entrusted with the maintenance, operation, and overall management of the golf course and associated grounds, delivering consistent playing conditions, strong team leadership, and excellent stewardship of people, property, and resources.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and direct all golf course maintenance and agronomic programs (turf health, mowing, fertility, irrigation, IPM, cultural practices, winter prep, etc.).

Lead and develop the maintenance team: hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.

Establish daily/weekly/monthly work plans; inspect course conditions and adjust programs to meet agreed-upon standards.

Manage and maintain course assets including: turf areas, practice facilities, landscape/grounds, and other property as assigned.

Oversee equipment care and maintenance programs; coordinate repairs; manage inventories, parts, and shop priorities.

Prepare and manage annual maintenance and capital budgets; execute cost controls; track labor, materials, and spending vs. plan.

Maintain accurate records (applications, weather, inventories, safety logs, training, equipment, etc.).

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal/state/local regulations and safety/environmental best practices.

Communicate clearly with ownership/management and golf operations regarding course conditions, plans, weather impacts, special events, and projects.

Coordinate and/or lead construction, renovation, drainage, irrigation, and improvement projects (in-house and/or contractors).

Represent Arrowhead professionally in the local golf and turf community; pursue continuing education.
Educational Requirements
Pesticide certification: Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain appropriate Michigan pesticide applicator certification through MDARD (commercial or private, as applicable).
Experience Requirements
Qualifications / Employment Standards

Demonstrated knowledge of turfgrass management and agronomy; working knowledge of golf course maintenance practices and construction principles.

Strong leadership and administrative capability (planning, budgeting, prioritizing, problem-solving, decision-making).

Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work cross-functionally with golf operations.

Knowledge of current laws and regulations impacting golf course operations, including safety and environmental compliance.

Pesticide certification: Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain appropriate Michigan pesticide applicator certification through MDARD (commercial or private, as applicable).

Prior superintendent (or comparable lead agronomic) experience preferred: 5 years.

Salary commensurate based on experience and education - $50,000 - $70,000
