Equipment/Shop Manager

Full-time

Oversees all facets of equipment maintenance to support the Greens Crew functions.

Performs varied duties to support the effective maintenance and care of facility grounds.

Works under the general direction of the Golf Course Superintendent.  Follows established Club policies and procedures.

Maintains, adjusts, troubleshoots and repairs all facility equipment for Club property.

Develops and updates, when required, preventive maintenance plans for all facility equipment.

Performs preventive maintenance at prescribed intervals on all equipment.  Maintains maintenance records to asses shifts or trends in equipment performance.

Purchases maintenance-related items and maintains an adequate inventory of routine spare parts and general maintenance supplies.  Provides recommendations for equipment upgrades.

As necessary, performs any task requested by the Golf Superintendent.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Associate’s degree or Certificate from an accredited technical school/college (or related study) highly preferred, but not required

 

Experience Requirements

5+ years of work experience in mechanical repair or related field. Previous experience working with golf course/landscaping related equipment at a reputable facility preferred.

Self-initiative, a positive attitude, ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Extensive knowledge in hydraulic, gas, diesel, and small engine systems.

Working knowledge of the theory and care of reel and bed knife grinding preferred.

Troubleshooting & diagnosing equipment failures accurately & efficiently.

Capital Equipment & Operating Budget planning, budgeting, & tracking.

Skills in fabrication, metalwork, & welding highly preferred.

Experience operating heavy equipment safely & proficiently. Experience with operating golf course & landscaping specific equipment preferred.

Demonstrated strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Special Requirements

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for a wide variety of golf course maintenance equipment.  Ability to perform manual labor and must possess adequate manual dexterity and physical ability to safely operate various pieces of equipment and tools, while having the ability to lift, bend, twist, push, pull, reach and walk for extended periods.  Capable of reading Safety Data Sheets and related technical information and working with, or around lubricants, grease and other maintenance products.  Is self motivated and accustomed to being in a position of responsibility.  Must work well with others and will help coworkers when needed.  Is organized and has the ability to perform administrative duties related to the job.  Maintains OSHA and other compliances.  Must have a valid drivers license.
