Equipment/Shop Manager
Position: Equipment Manager
Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the EM is responsible for all functions required for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of all construction, maintenance, golf cart, and on-road equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
-
Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines

Maintain sharpening, grinding, and setup of reels and bedknives to manufacturer and course standards

Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems
Inventory & Shop Management

Maintain an organized, clean, and safe maintenance shop

Manage inventory of parts, tools, fuels, lubricants, and supplies

Track maintenance records, service logs, and equipment usage
-
Recommend equipment replacement and upgrades based on condition and performance
Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and manufacturer safety standards

Train staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance
-
Enforce safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment
Planning & Collaboration

Coordinate maintenance schedules with the Golf Course Superintendent to support daily and long-term agronomic goals

Assist with budgeting for equipment maintenance, repairs, and capital purchases

Communicate equipment status and needs clearly to management
Qualifications
Required
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
3–5 years of experience maintaining golf course or turf maintenance equipment
-
Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
-
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
-
Valid driver’s license
Preferred
-
Certification in small engine repair, diesel mechanics, or turf equipment management
-
Experience with reel grinding equipment
-
Familiarity with GPS, electric, or hybrid turf equipment
-
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
-
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces
-
Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and occasional overtime as needed
Working Conditions

Indoor shop and outdoor course environments

Exposure to noise, chemicals, grease, and weather conditions
Compensation & Benefits
-
$30-$32/hour
