2nd Assistant Superintendent

Scarsdale Golf Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate turfgrass professional to join our agronomy team as Second Assistant Superintendent. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a historic club committed to championship-caliber conditioning, technological innovation, and long-term golf course enhancement.

Founded in 1898, Scarsdale Golf Club is a private country club located in Westchester County, New York. The club features an 18-hole A.W. Tillinghast-designed golf course, expansive practice facilities, tennis and paddle courts (including a new seasonal tennis enclosure), bowling lanes, pool complex, and fitness center.

The Second Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in the daily management of golf course maintenance operations. This position plays a key leadership role in crew supervision, project execution, and maintaining the club’s high standards of conditioning and presentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and supervising daily golf course maintenance operations

  • Lead, train, and mentor crew members while providing clear instruction and accountability

  • Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications, including GPS-guided spray technology

  • Monitor irrigation scheduling, water management practices, and system maintenance

  • Participate in course improvement projects aligned with the club’s master plan

  • Operate and oversee autonomous mowing equipment

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all equipment

  • Assist with record keeping, regulatory compliance, and agronomic planning


Technology & Innovation

Scarsdale Golf Club embraces innovation to enhance efficiency, precision, and sustainability. The agronomy team utilizes:

  • John Deere GPS spray technology

  • Autonomous mowing equipment

  • Toro Drive irrigation software

The club has recently completed several major capital improvements, including a state-of-the-art maintenance facility and installation of a new Toro irrigation system providing advanced water management capabilities. This fall, the club will begin implementation of a comprehensive golf course master plan, offering valuable project experience for the successful candidate.


 

Educational Requirements

Two or Four year degree/certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred but not required.

Experience Requirements

Past experience at a reputable golf club preferred but not mandatory.
