Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

Windham Mountain Club is seeking a strategic, hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead all agronomic operations.

This role is responsible for the complete care, conditioning, and long-term performance of the golf course, grounds, infrastructure, and equipment fleet. The Superintendent will continue building systems, culture, and operational discipline that elevate Windham Mountain Club’s golf experience for decades to come.

The Superintendent will work cross-functionally with resort leadership to support year-round programming, signature events, and peak season execution.

Initial Priorities of Position:

  • Assess existing turf health, infrastructure, and maintenance systems.
  • Implement structured agronomic programming aligned with private club expectations.
  • Create measurable conditioning benchmarks and performance standards.
  • Build a high-performance team culture
  • Develop a detailed annual operating budget and capital plans
  • Evaluate irrigation, drainage, pumping, and water systems.
  • Develop preventative maintenance protocols for equipment and facilities.
  • Identify long-term capital improvement needs
  • Educate stakeholders on agronomic strategy, renovation progress, and long-term planning.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Agronomic & Infrastructure Excellence

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive agronomic plan aligned with high-end private club standards.
  • Lead turfgrass, horticulture, irrigation, drainage, pumping systems, and water management strategy.
  • Establish and execute fertilizer, aeration, and Integrated Pest Management programs.
  • Ensure long-term infrastructure integrity across irrigation, drainage, and equipment systems.

Financial & Operational Stewardship

  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget and operating plan.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and cost management systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all operational and financial reporting.
  • Maintain fiscal discipline while delivering championship-caliber conditioning.

Team Development & Culture

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performing agronomy team.
  • Build structured scheduling systems that maximize productivity and course presentation.
  • Implement performance management, coaching, and development programs.
  • Model professionalism aligned with Windham Mountain Club brand standards.

Equipment & Asset Management

  • Establish preventative maintenance programs for equipment, vehicles, and tools.
  • Maintain organized, compliant, and professional equipment, chemical, and storage facilities.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and documentation of fertilizers and chemicals.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Maintain full compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead employee safety programs and documentation.
  • Ensure safe working environments and public safety standards.

Industry Engagement & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging agronomic practices, technologies, and industry trends.
  • Participate in professional associations and continuing education.
  • Bring forward-thinking solutions to enhance course conditioning and operational efficiency.

Managing & Overseeing The Valley / Tubing Park

  • Provide operational leadership and direct oversight of The Valley and Tubing Park, ensuring safe, efficient, and guest-focused operations at all times.
  • Develop and manage seasonal operating budgets, staffing models, and preventative maintenance schedules for tubing and mountain activity areas.
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of both seasonal and full-time operations team members.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety standards, risk management protocols, and regulatory requirements specific to tubing and mountain operations.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of slopes, lifts, snowmaking systems, and guest facilities in partnership with operations and facilities teams.
  • Uphold and align all Valley and Tubing Park operations with Windham Mountain Club brand standards and guest experience expectations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range - $120,000-$150,000

Qualifications

  • Turfgrass Management degree preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive supervisory experience, including golf course construction or major renovation leadership.
  • Appropriate state and industry certifications/licensing.
  • Demonstrated success in:
    • Budget development and fiscal management
    • Strategic planning
    • Team leadership and staff development
    • Project execution
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and peak seasonal demands.

Educational Requirements

Turfgrass Management degree required - Certificate, Associate's, Bachelor's.
