2nd Assistant Superintendent
The Golf Club of Amelia Island is currently seeking a full-time Golf Course Assistant Superintendent to join our team.
Designed by PGA Tour veteran Mark McCumber and legendary golfer Gene Littler in 1987, this award-winning 18-hole, par 72 golf course has been recognized worldwide as one of the Top Golf Resorts by Condé Nast Traveler and as one of the Best Places to Play by Golf Digest.
The 2nd Assistant Superintendent assists the Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent in Club’s effort to deliver a world-class facility for members and guests, exceptional service, financial profitability and to meet the standards and expectations of senior management.
· Oversees the completion of work assignments by crew and assists with decisions regarding job procedures, work standards and equipment use.
· Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
· Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Club standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the Club.
· Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
· Oversee the safety of golf maintenance equipment and operations.
· Instruct employees on safe working conditions, proper equipment use and performance of job duties.
· Makes decisions in absence of Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent.
· Supervise special projects and labor crews.
· Reports golf course conditions and disciplinary issues to 1st Assistant or Golf Course Superintendent.
· Assist in ensuring the golf course equipment and operations is in accordance with all manufacturer, industry and safety regulations and applicable local, state, federal laws.
· Ensures irrigation system in good operating condition.
· Calibrates and operates spray equipment as needed.
· Other duties may be assigned as business demands.
Educational Requirements
· Certificate or Two year degree from an accredited Turfgrass Management Program or a related field.
Experience Requirements
· 2 or more years of golf course maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Possession of a valid driver’s license
· Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator(or ability to obtain within 90 days)
