The Gallery Golf Club is proud to announce an exceptional career opportunity for a Golf Course Superintendent for our renowned 18-hole South Course in Marana, Arizona.
Located within the stunning Tortolita Preserve at the base of the Tortolita Mountains, The Gallery Golf Club is one of Arizona’s premier private golf destinations. The South Course has earned national recognition as a championship venue, having hosted the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship (where legends including Tiger Woods competed), as well as a LIV Golf Tucson tournament. The club’s reputation for elite tournament conditioning and premier member experience continues to set the standard in the Southwest.
This position is ideal for a highly motivated, detail-oriented turf professional who thrives in a high-end private club environment and is passionate about delivering superior playing conditions for members and their guests.
The Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Agronomy in all aspects of golf course operations, agronomic planning, and team development. The Gallery provides exceptional resources, capital support, and a culture of excellence at empowering our leadership team to consistently maintain next-level conditioning.
- Key Responsibilities of the Superintendent
• Partner with the Director of Agronomy to develop, implement, and manage the annual maintenance budget and capital improvement plans.
• Supervise, mentor, and lead the maintenance team in daily operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high performance.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and renovation of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers to championship standards.
• Oversee agronomic programs including fertility, irrigation management, cultural practices, pest management, and environmental stewardship.
• Supervise the planting and care of turfgrasses, trees, and ornamental landscaping consistent with the club’s aesthetic standards.
• Ensure all golf course equipment is properly maintained in collaboration with the Equipment Manager.
• Assist in procurement of supplies and materials while maintaining fiscal responsibility within budgetary guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, water usage, and departmental expenses.
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile and code invoices, payroll, and departmental documentation in a timely manner.
• Coordinate weather-related course protection and emergency procedures as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and OSHA standards.
• Ensure associates maintain appropriate certifications and licenses to perform job duties safely and legally.
• Manage department team members including, but not limited to: Mechanic, Assistant Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Spray Technician, Foreman, Greenskeeper, Groundskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and ongoing training initiatives.
• Monitor business volume forecasts and adjust staffing, productivity, and expense management accordingly.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices at all times.
- Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Plant Science, Soil Science, or related field (preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–3 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Second Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant-in-Training at a private, resort, or high-level daily fee facility.
• Demonstrated experience preparing and maintaining golf courses for tournament-level or high-profile member play preferred.
• Strong knowledge of desert agronomy, warm-season turf management, overseeding, irrigation systems, and water conservation practices.
• Proven leadership ability with experience supervising and developing teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Other Qualifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with irrigation software and turf management systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain an Arizona Pesticide Applicator’s License within 90 days of employment (required).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus.

- Salary
$70,000 – $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
