Equipment/Shop Manager
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
· The Equipment Manager is responsible for all facets of equipment repair and maintenance.
· The Equipment Manager’s responsibility is to effectively manage the fleet of turf equipment and its facilities.
· He/she holds a very high standard for quality of cut, oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, diagnostics and repair of failing equipment, records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, places orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service for the golf course assets.
· The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent, and schedules and directs the work assignments of the Mechanic.
· The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Educational Requirements
Education and Experience
· A degree from a two-year technical school in mechanics or similar field preferred.
· Training and experience with fuel ignition systems, hydraulics, reel and blade sharpening, diesel, and small engine repair.
· Minimum of one year of golf course mechanical experience preferred or an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations
· Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and golf course construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement.
· Operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
· Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to golf course equipment.
· Administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem-solving and decision-making, including managing, directing, hiring, and firing employees.
· Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
· Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
· Work additional hours as assigned/required.
· Comply with all GLEN EAGLE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB policies and procedures
Special Requirements
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
· Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
· Possibly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
· Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
· Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
· Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
· Frequent repetitive motions.
· Continuous standing and walking.
· Use of protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
