Turf Equipment Technician

  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair gasoline and diesel-powered equipment including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, small engines, and specialized turf equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, grinding, reel and bedknife adjustments, and hydraulic repairs

  • Maintain and sharpen reels, bedknives, and cutting units to ensure high-quality turf presentation

  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

  • Manage parts inventory and order necessary supplies within approved budget guidelines

  • Ensure equipment meets safety standards and operates efficiently

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment

  • Assist with staff training on proper equipment use and care

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns during course operations

Educational Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required  

Technical Certificate/degree preferred 

Experience Requirements

Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and reel height adjustment

3+ years of experience in turf equipment repair (golf course experience preferred)

Strong knowledge of small engine repair, hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding

Experience with reel grinding and setup preferred

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
