Position Summary: The Sod Farm Mechanic works under the direction the Farm Director and Farm Manager to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on a wide range of farm equipment. This position ensures machinery is in safe and reliable working condition to support daily sod production, planting, and harvesting operations.

Qualifications
- Hands-on experience as a mechanic in agriculture, turf, or heavy equipment industries.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
Special Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on tractors, harvesters, mowers, sprayers, spreaders, trucks, and trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and carry out repairs efficiently.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, and assembly of equipment and parts as needed.
- Support preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Report equipment needs, safety issues, and operational concerns to the Shop Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and field.
- Assist other departments when needed to support overall farm operations.
