Lionheart Country Club is a 27-hole semi-private golf course located at the western base of Avon Mountain, in the Farmington River Valley. The property was purchased in the autumn of 2024 (formerly known as Blue Fox Run Golf Course) and is in the beginning phases of massive renovations with architect Jim Fazio Jr. Nine holes on the western side of the Farmington River have already been renovated, adding new layouts, renovated bunkers with Better Billy linings, massive drainage improvements, and a new driving range. Renovations are scheduled to improve the remaining 18 holes on the east side of the Farmington River.
Position Summary
The 2nd Assistant will be responsible for all activities related to the maintenance and condition of the golf course, grounds, and equipment. Assist superintendent and first assistant in the execution of agronomic plans. Routine responsibilities will include soil moisture management, chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation troubleshooting and repair. Supervise small teams on special projects across the property. Overtime and weekend work will be mandatory.
Educational Requirements
Education
- High school education required; B.S or A.S. will be preferred, especially in agronomic sciences.
- Possession of a CT pesticide operator’s license, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
Experience
- Two years of golf course maintenance, or other high end property/grounds experience
- Knowledge of crew management
- Pesticide mixing and application
