About Us
Located in Villanova, Pennsylvania along the historic Philadelphia Main Line, Overbrook Golf Club is a premier private club with a rich tradition of championship golf and outstanding member experiences. Founded in 1900, the club sits on approximately 128 rolling acres and features an 18-hole parkland-style golf course originally designed by Joseph Bernard McGovern, a longtime associate of Donald Ross.
The club has remained committed to the long-term improvement of its golf course and facilities. Recently, the course underwent a full renovation with renowned architect Andrew Green, which restored key strategic features, widened playing corridors, and refined green surrounds to create a more engaging and challenging experience for golfers.
Looking toward the future, the club is currently planning a full irrigation system replacement scheduled for completion around 2030. New pump house is planned for install spring of 2027. This project will provide valuable exposure to irrigation planning, installation, and long-term water management strategies for those involved in the program.
Position Overview
Overbrook Golf Club is proud to offer a hands-on training opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in golf course management. This role provides valuable experience in all aspects of golf course operations while developing the agronomic knowledge and leadership skills necessary for success in the turfgrass industry. Our goal is to prepare motivated individuals for the next step in their careers while maintaining the exceptional playing conditions our membership expects.
Throughout the program, participants will gain experience in:
- Chemical and fertilizer applications, including mixing, calibration, and spray planning
- Irrigation management, troubleshooting, and repair to support efficient water use and turf health
- Strategic water management practices to maintain firm, consistent playing conditions
- Daily course setup and presentation to deliver championship-level playing surfaces
- Leadership opportunities through assisting with small crew management and daily work planning
- Tournament preparation and course conditioning for major member events
- Drainage installation and other course improvement projects
- Crew organization and daily operational planning
Direct collaboration with the Assistant Superintendents on agronomic programs and course management strategies
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma required. Higher education degree in Turf Management, Agronomy or Horticulture preferred.
Experience Requirements
Minimum one season but energy, passion, and a willingness to learn matter most.
