Edgewood Country Club has had 5 Assistant Superintendents move on to Superintendent positions in recent years.
Established in 1898, Edgewood Country Club is a private club located in the east suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in Churchill. The club takes pride in the conditioning and playability of the championship 18-hole course as well as its recreation areas and landscaped clubhouse grounds. Edgewood has also earned its reputation as a premier country club with its fine dining and banquet facilities. The greens, tees and fairways are conditioned with a bent/poa annua mix. The bunkers were upgraded with new drainage and new sand in-house. Numerous renovations have been completed including: 6 new ladies tees, renovation of the 10th and 18th holes, removal of 4 bunkers, addition of 3 bunkers, fairway line reshaping, irrigation upgrades, beginning the use of autonomous mowers, and more.
Educational Requirements
Graduate of or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year turfgrass program

Special Requirements
Professional Responsibilities:
1. Club Management:
-Communicate with management, staff and membership to create an efficient operation
-Identify turf health issues
-Oversee and perform mowing, rolling, course setup, bunker manicuring
-Special projects–aerification, drainage, tree maintenance, bunker renovation, tee renovation
-Clubhouse grounds improvements
-Organize and improve efficiency in three separate maintenance buildings
-Train personnel
-Winter snow removal
2. Fertilizer and Pesticide Management:
- Obtain a Pennsylvania pesticide applicator license
- Safely handle and apply herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers
- Calibrate equipment for the use of liquid and granular fertilizers and pesticides
-Chemical and fertilizer inventory and record keeping
3. Irrigation System Management:
-Hand water and operate irrigation system
-Repair irrigation system and components, troubleshoot problems, repair leaks
4. Professional Development:
-Order materials and tools from local and national vendors
-Attend industry seminars
